Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club

About the Navesink River HRC

The Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club was founded in 1984 to promote the training of retrievers and other gun dog breeds in New Jersey. Today the club continues this effort by hosting training sessions and licensed AKC and NAHRA hunt tests as well as club Gun Dog tests throughout the year. With members from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New York, most of our events are held in the central NJ area.

The dogs trained by our club members include Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Curly Coated Retrievers, Flat Coat Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers Boykin Spaniels and several other upland and pointing dog breeds.

NRHRC Mission Statement

At Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club, our mission is to fulfill our commitment to the education of handlers, owners, and the general public. We strive to encourage and promote the breeding and field testing of pure-bred hunting retrievers while maintaining an unwavering dedication to bringing their natural abilities to perfection. We are firmly dedicated to protecting and advancing the interests of pure-bred hunting dogs, and we aim to achieve this through comprehensive education and by fostering sportsmanlike participation in training and testing. In pursuit of our mission, we conduct training sessions and organize sanctioned and licensed hunting field tests under the rules of the club, the North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA), and the American Kennel Club (AKC). Furthermore, we are steadfast in our commitment to promoting and educating the use and training of hunting retrievers and other hunting breeds as a conservation tool for the sound management and use of all our wildlife. It is our belief that through these efforts, we can contribute meaningfully to the preservation and sustainable utilization of our natural resources.

We are dedicated to upholding these principles and welcome all who share our commitment to join us in furthering the advancement and protection of pure-bred hunting dogs and the conservation of wildlife.
